QUESTIONS WITHOUT NOTICE
Senator WONG (South Australia—Minister for Foreign Affairs and Leader of the Government in the Senate) (14:03): I would make two points. The budget included a tax reform package which provided over $3.8 billion in new tax relief for businesses. That is the first point.
The second is in relation to the changes to trusts. I again say to you, Senator, 90 per cent of Australia's small businesses do not use trusts. Of the 10 per cent that do, we have said we will ensure that there is rollover relief if these small businesses wish to restructure into different legal arrangements, such as a company or a fixed trust, in circumstances where that is beneficial for them to do so.
Opposition senators interjecting— Senator WONG: This is Senator Nampijinpa Price's question. I'm trying to respond to her. Senator WONG: I have said we will provide rollover relief to enable and facilitate small businesses changing their structure.
