Senator KOVACIC (New South Wales) (15:40): At the request of Senators Canavan and Duniam, I move: (1) That there be laid on the table by the Minister representing the Minister for Home Affairs, by no later than midday on Wednesday, 21 October 2026, the following documents: (a) every version of each ministerial brief or submission provided by the Department of Home Affairs to the Minister for Home Affairs and Minister for Immigration and Citizenship, or the minister's office, between 1 May 2026 and the date of this order concerning the development, making, approval or signature of either of the following: (i) Ministerial Direction 119, and (ii) Ministerial Direction 117; and (b) all attachments provided with each version of a brief or submission referred to in paragraph (a).

(2) For the avoidance of doubt, this order does not extend to correspondence or internal departmental drafts or working documents that were not provided to the minister or the minister's office. Question agreed to.
