MATTERS OF URGENCY
The ACTING DEPUTY PRESIDENT ( Senator O'Neill ) (16:20): Senator McKim has submitted a proposal, under standing order 75, today. It has been circulated and is shown on the Dynamic Red: That, in the opinion of the Senate, the following is a matter of urgency: The need for the Labor Government to make resource corporations pay their fair share, raising an estimated $45 billion a year in additional public revenue to deliver cost-of-living relief, fund essential services and accelerate the transition away from fossil fuels.
Is consideration of the proposal supported? More than the number of senators required by the standing orders having risen in their places— The ACTING DEPUTY PRESIDENT: With the concurrence of the Senate, the clerks will set the clock in line with the informal arrangements made by the whips.
