Portfolio — 14 May 2026

Tribune’s note

Minister for Resources and Northern Australia Madeleine King ruled out gas export controls for Q3 2026, citing industry assurances and full east-coast storage as the basis for no further action under the Australian Domestic Gas Security Mechanism. The headline policy signal is the domestic gas reservation scheme commencing 1 July 2027, under which 20 percent of exports must be supplied to the domestic market — a structural measure King framed as building Australia's energy sovereignty.

The portfolio's near-term posture is to hold existing mechanisms in reserve while the reservation scheme advances toward implementation.
