Assistant Treasurer Daniel Mulino and Treasurer Jim Chalmers launched a public consultation on reforming the annual superannuation performance test, targeting both the removal of unnecessary investment constraints and a possible expansion of the test to cover a broader product range. A consultation paper is open for submissions until 19 June 2026. The announcement positions the reform as the next step in a sequence of superannuation measures the government has already legislated, including the 12 percent Superannuation Guarantee, payday super from 1 July, and super on government-funded paid parental leave.
