Portfolio — 14 May 2026

Tribune’s note

The day's most significant announcement was the passage of the Treasury Laws Amendment (The Survivors Law) Bill 2026, which closes a superannuation loophole exploited by convicted child sexual abusers and grants victim-survivors access to unpaid compensation via the ATO. In media releases, Mulino also defended permanent residents' access to welfare and NDIS services, outlined budget tax and housing measures including $47 billion in housing programs, and rejected proposals he characterised as divisive.

In the House, Mulino moved procedural motions to enable debate on the Regional Ministerial Budget Statement 2026–27 and to update the membership of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Works, reinforcing his floor management role alongside the day's policy messaging.
