Tribune’s note

Attorney-General Rowland used Question Time on 12 May to deliver a comprehensive update on the government's response to the 14 December 2025 terrorist attack that killed 15 people. The Royal Commission on Antisemitism and Social Cohesion, chaired by former High Court Justice Virginia Bell, delivered an interim report on 30 April containing 14 recommendations — including enhancements to national counter-terrorism arrangements — and the government has committed to adopting all Commonwealth-related recommendations.

Rowland confirmed the final report is due on 14 December, with complementary measures underway including tougher gun laws, hate crime actions, and implementation of the 2025 Counter-Terrorism and Violent Extremism Strategy with the states.
