Shadow Portfolio — 12 May 2026
Opposition Leader Angus Taylor used Question Time on 12 May 2026 to press the Prime Minister on reported plans to introduce taxes on houses, savings, small businesses and farmers — holding the PM's own pledge that "my word is my bond" against media reporting of imminent tax measures. Earlier in the day Taylor led parliamentary tributes to Warrant Officer Class 2 Lachlan Muddle, killed in a parachuting exercise, and to former transport minister Peter Frederick Morris OAM.
The procedural tributes and the Question Time attack together frame a day in which Taylor positioned the Opposition as both guardian of the defence community and principal challenger to government credibility on tax.
