Minister Giles announced up to $24 million over four years to establish the Indigenous Centre of Vocational Excellence (ICOVE), operational from 1 July 2026. Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services Limited and Tranby Aboriginal Cooperative Ltd will operate the centre as an Aboriginal Community Controlled Registered Training consortium, chosen through competitive process.
The ICOVE is framed as a national VET hub embedding First Nations leadership in training design and delivery, with an explicit link to Closing the Gap employment objectives.
