Shadow Portfolio — 12 May 2026
Tribune’s note
Senator Kerrynne Liddle used a Senate motion on the death of Kumanjayi to press for legislative action on child safety and Indigenous community services. She drew directly on her shadow portfolios spanning child protection, Indigenous Australians, family violence prevention and social services to frame the case for stronger government accountability. Her sharpest attack targeted town camp housing, which she described as service monopolies without basic facilities — connecting poor infrastructure to child safety failures.
