Portfolio — 14 May 2026

Tribune’s note

Senator Anthony Chisholm's most substantive activity on 14 May 2026 was the opening of the University of the Sunshine Coast Milbi Centre on the Hervey Bay foreshore — a sea turtle research and rehabilitation facility co-funded by the Albanese Government ($250,000) and the Crisafulli Government ($1.17 million). The centre will provide 24-hour care for up to 50 turtles annually, combining rehabilitation with scientific research, AI-based tracking, Butchulla traditional knowledge, and UniSC training.

The portfolio framed the investment as a dual-purpose regional development instrument delivering both local jobs and long-term conservation outcomes in the Fraser Coast. In the Senate chamber, Chisholm also discharged business management duties, commending the Public and Educational Lending Rights (Better Income for Authors) Bill and moving its successful third reading.
