Tribune’s note
Tony Burke, as Leader of the House, executed a concentrated set of procedural moves on 12 May to clear the path for budget week. He suspended standing orders 31 and 33 on 12 May and standing order 31 again on 14 May, enabling the budget speech and reply to proceed, with the House set to adjourn automatically to 25 May. Alongside those standing order adjustments, he referred four bills and a condolence motion to the Federation Chamber and tabled documents, managing both the legislative pipeline and ceremonial obligations within a single sitting.
