Tribune’s note

Minister Butler activated the Biosecurity Act to formally list hantavirus as a human disease, enabling a quarantine order for six passengers repatriated from overseas. The six — five Australian citizens, one permanent resident, and one New Zealand national — will be held for three weeks at the Bullsbrook Centre for National Resilience after arrival through RAAF Base Pearce.

Three media briefings across two days show a sustained government effort to frame this as a nationally coordinated response, with DFAT, the Australian Centre for Disease Control, state health departments, and the Doherty Institute all named as active participants.
