Tribune’s note

The PM used question time on 25 March to advance a single overarching frame: Australia's economic and strategic resilience in a destabilised global environment. That frame held together four otherwise distinct policy areas — fuel security, sovereign manufacturing, the Australia-EU trade and security package, and gambling harm reduction — each positioned as a government response to external pressure or domestic vulnerability.

The Boyne smelter announcement was the sharpest new signal: a 50-50 Commonwealth-Queensland joint investment protecting 3,000 jobs in Gladstone, framed explicitly as part of a series alongside Mount Isa and Whyalla, signalling a deliberate pattern of sovereign industrial intervention. Separately, the PM anchored Endometriosis Awareness Month to a concrete delivery claim — 33 endo and pelvic pain clinics nearing completion and new PBS listings — presenting the women's health investment as an example of government follow-through rather than aspiration.
